Following The Wrong Dream

"He had all the wrong dreams. All, all, wrong."

This quote is from the play "Death of a Salesman." This quote takes place while the characters are speaking of a man at his funeral. All his life he had been amazing at any work that had to do with his hands, yet he was determined to become a good salesman.

This perfectly demonstrates the consequences of living a life chasing the wrong dream. He wanted a job that would give him glory and accolades instead of doing what he was good at. He never felt like he fulfilled his purpose because he was created to be a carpenter but was determined to be salesman. In our own lives we often  want to do what will bring us glory, fame, or a lot of money. However these things will never bring fulfillment. The only thing that will is doing what you do best.

If you are great at science but mediocre at sports, don't spend your life trying to become a pro-athlete because it will bring you more fame. You were created with the talents that you were to point you in direction of the dream you were created to fulfill. That is why the first two keys to living a purposed life are to do the best with the gifts you have been given, and then to chase your dreams. However it is important to know that you can chase the wrong dreams if you are chasing them for the wrong reasons. Chase a dream because it is something you are good at and that you enjoy-not because of what it will bring you.

"The more you love what you are doing, the more successful it will be for you.""
